Dust off your autumn boots and get ready for a brilliant day out! Percy and the Bumper Race is officially out into the world, and we are throwing a celebration right where the racing magic happens.
When: Sunday, 4th October 2026
Where: Kelso Racecourse (Britain’s Friendliest Racecourse!)
What: The Family Fun Raceday
Join Eleanor, Percy (in spirit!), and the rest of the crew for an unforgettable afternoon. Not only will you be the very first to get your hooves on a copy of Percy and the Bumper Race, but you will also get to experience a live, thundering day of racing tailored specifically for families!
Race Day Itinerary
We have a thrilling six-race card planned, packed with fun activities before the horses even reach the track!
11:45 AM – Gates Open & Ice Cream Alert!
Arrive early to explore the beautiful Kelso grounds and visit our book launch stand to pick up your copy of Percy’s big adventure. Plus, the first 200 kids through the gates will receive a voucher for a FREE ice cream!
12:30 PM – Meet the Jockeys
Before the racing begins, head over to the special jockeys’ autograph session to meet the brave riders who steer the horses around the track.
1:45 PM – Under Starter’s Orders!
The action begins with the very first race of the day! Head to the rails to hear the thunder of hooves and cheer on your favorites.
Percy’s Racing Dream – Afternoon Highlight
A very special moment for our favorite pony! As part of the exciting six-race card, make sure you cheer extra loud for the runners in The Percy’s Racing Dream Handicap Hurdle!
More Fun on the Day The Family Zone
Need to burn off some of that bouncy pony energy? Head over to the Final Furlong marquee, which will be transformed into a fantastic “family zone” featuring a fun soft play area!
Book Signings: Pick up a fresh copy of the book and have it signed by Eleanor.
See the Glossary Come to Life: Young readers can spot the Parade Ring, look at the bright Silks, and listen for the thundering of hooves that they learned about in Percy’s Stable Dictionary!
Ready to Join the Fun? Grab your tickets ahead of time to make sure you don’t miss out on the magic (or the ice cream!).
